Sue Simpson lives and works in Edinburgh and the Isle of Mull, where she and her husband renovated a derelict cottage some years ago. Views from here feature in much of her work. After a business career of thirty very odd years, including time spent in Cape Town where she was officially employed as an interior designer, but actually started a furniture factory, she returned to London and became involved in running a shop that sold model steam engines and mechanical antiquities. In 1990 she retired in order to return to painting and to spend more time in Scotland. Time spent at Chelsea College of Art recharged her batteries and her enthusiasm for oil painting. She now enjoys painting local landscapes around Edinburgh as well as Mull, where her paintings have also been exhibited. |
